First Year
Program

 This is ideal for full time students who are at least High School Graduates and want a career in fashion. Fashion Design students must have basic drawing skills, basic machine and hand sewing skills. Other fashion careers are more flexible but require good communication skills. Students cycle through the twelve experience stations in the first year. 20 skills are learned at each station. The first year is a twelve month course. Some flexibility is available.

Second Year

Second year students do three, 3-month internships specifically designed to further their chosen career path. e.g. pattern making, design, photography, business, museum management, costume design or social media.

Program Details & Cost

This is ideal for full time students who are High School Graduates. They are able to be full time students and are seriously considering a career in fashion. They have basic drawing skills,  basic machine and hand sewing skills, and good communication skills.

First Year of study and practicum (practical experience) at MDfin:
$30,000 per year. Second year is $10,000.

Scholarships:
Students need two years of work experience or 4000 hours over two years in order to be eligible for entry into job fairs in the fashion industry in New York. Students who ‘work’  at the school have the opportunity to earn back $8000 per year and fulfill their ‘experience requirement’ at the same time.  They learn by doing, practicing skills and problem solving!

We prefer students who have not had college experience to take some courses at the local community college or college courses to broaden their world views. The hours at MDfin are flexible and can be worked around the students other college courses.

Total cost for two years of study and practicum at MDfin:
$40,000

Scholarships: For two years of ‘work experience’ or 4000 hours = $23,000.

Total Cost for two year course after MDfin scholarships applied:
$17,000

This is ideal for full time students who are High School Graduates and are seriously considering a career in fashion. They have basic drawing skills, basic machine and hand sewing skills, and good communication skills. This program is geared towards High School Graduates but all ages are welcome.

Cost: $10,000 for the 3 month internship while specializing in specific subjects.

These courses are quick introductions to the skills and knowledge. They are held on a weekend day from 10 am. to 4 pm. Each class will be held on a Saturday one month and on a Sunday the next month.  They are offered once per month. Classes have between 10 and 20 students. Students must be high school students or older.
